Frequently asked questions

How do I submit a manuscript?

Use the submission form: enter the author details, choose the manuscript type and upload the anonymised Word file. You receive an acknowledgement with a reference number at once. Prepare the file to the Author Guidelines first.

How do I track the status of my manuscript?

Send a message through the form on this page with the query type Manuscript Status / Tracking, quoting your reference number. The editorial office replies with the current stage. The stages are set out on the Track Your Manuscript page.

How long does peer review take?

Every manuscript goes through editorial screening and then double-blind review by two independent reviewers. Authors are informed of the decision within two weeks of the completion of review. See the Peer Review Policy.

What are the article processing charges, and when are they payable?

There is no fee to submit or to be reviewed. On acceptance the charge is INR 1,200 / USD 30 for one or two authors, INR 1,600 / USD 50 for three to five authors, and INR 200 / USD 10 for each author beyond five. Details are on the Article Processing Charges page.

How do I pay the processing charge?

Payment instructions are sent with the acceptance letter. Quote your reference number with the payment. See Pay Fees Online.

Who holds the copyright, and is there a copyright form?

Authors retain copyright. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, which the author accepts on submission; no separate copyright transfer form is required. See the Open Access Policy.

Where can I read the publication policy?

The Publication Policy, Publication Ethics statement and Peer Review Policy are published in full on this site.

Where is IJILR indexed, and do articles carry a DOI?

Current indexing and abstracting services are listed on the Indexing and Abstracting page. Every article has a permanent address on ijilr.org and complete metadata is exposed for harvesting. For DOI queries, write to us with the query type Indexing / DOI.

How do I receive my e-certificate?

Every published author receives a free digital certificate of publication after the article is online. If it has not reached you, send a message with the query type e-Certificate quoting the paper title. See Digital Certificates.

How can I join the editorial board, review for the journal, or propose a collaboration?

Send a message with the query type Editorial Board / Collaboration, a short note on your area of expertise and a link to your profile or CV. The editorial office responds to every application.

Which citation style does IJILR require?

Footnote citation in Bluebook, OSCOLA or ILI style, applied consistently, with the Manupatra or neutral citation for every Indian judgment. See the Citation Style Guide.

How do I raise a publication ethics concern or request a correction?

Send a message with the query type Other and the subject of the concern. Concerns are handled under the Publication Ethics policy, and corrections or retractions are recorded on the article page.
